President Coolidge once invited some Vermont friends to dine at the White House.
They were worried about their table manners, so decided to do everything Coolidge did. The meal passed smoothly until coffee was served and Coolidge poured his into a saucer. The guests followed suit.
Then he added sugar and cream. The visitors did likewise. Then Coolidge leaned over and gave his to the cat.
