A couple of slick counterfeiters made up a batch of $18 bills and decided that a good place to pass the phony bucks would be in Vermont, on the theory that unsophisticated farmers would be especially gullible.
So the enterprising crooks drove up to Vermont and stopped at the first likely-looking grocery store, located on a lonely country road. One of the men dashed into the store and asked for a pack of cigarettes. He then asked the clerk if he could change an $18 bill.
“Sure thing,” drawled the Vermonter. “Ya want three 6$ or two 9$?”
